As The Bigfoot World Turns: More on the 'Daisy in the Box' Episode

Rob Gaudet from Squatch Unlimited has been kind enough to allow me to post the following information:

Daisy Bigfoot Capture: Ed Smith question and answer by independent researchers continues

Good Morning Here is the continuation of my questions and answers with Ed Smith.

Questions in full:

1. If you have seen no photos, videos, reports or the alleged specimen, how can you be 90+ % sure this is a legitimate capture scenario? What information have they provided that makes you that certain?

2. I read your explanation for your involvement with Quantra on this. But, that does not explain why they are involving you. By all rights, they could have kicked you to the curb for your information disclosure. But, they have not. Why not?

3. Who is Mr. Alexander? What can you tell us about him?

4. Going back to the “crates”. You stated there are 8 total, but there are 6 in the field. Are they all on one property? If not how many to a property and do you have a number for the people involved that know about these “crates” and their locations?

5. Let’s talk about the “knock down” gas and how you described the air being sucked from the crate to render the subject unconscious. What preparations, if any, were made should the subject not begin to breathe on their own? Could you describe this in more detail as some are alleging simply doing this and not performing some kind of resuscitation (and following up with an immediate tranquilizer) would have ended with the death of the alleged subject.

6. From what field(s) of study is the group getting advice for sedation, immobilization, general health & welfare and examination?

a. Exotic husbandry (e.g. zookeeping), general biology, wildlife biology, veterinary (domestic, wildlife or exotic), medical, or other?
b. From the field(s) listed in the response for 1.a. which are protocol consultants, hired or on the ground participants, or group members?

Questions and Answers:

Question: If you have seen no photos, videos, reports or the alleged specimen, how can you be 90+ % sure this is a legitimate capture scenario?

Ed Smith: At the meeting in Houston they spoke of the specimen and referenced it several times.

Question: What information have they provided that makes you that certain?

Ed Smith: They are the ones who want to have a face to face meeting that was not a battle to get in the meeting framework.

It's just a matter of what content is or must be presented at the meeting. Other than what I have already discussed I have drawn those conclusions.

Question: I read your explanation for your involvement with Quantra on this. But, that does not explain why they are involving you. By all rights, they could have kicked you to the curb for your information disclosure.

Ed Smith: I endured about an hour of anger at the Houston meeting and there still may be legal ramifications. "I do bring to the table an understanding of the Bigfoot community we do not have" as stated by one of the principals in attendance.

I have stated and I will do it again, I am only overseeing the Bridging Group Meeting. Nothing More!

Question: But, they have not. Why not? What makes them think you won’t disclose sensitive information now?

Ed Smith: I have not signed any other NDA's or agreements, So that's a question that the principals would to have To answer.

Question: It is not my intent to insult you, but if you were on the outside looking in, as most in this community, you would have to admit it is curious that they would want to keep you involved.

Ed Smith: Outside of the information that I have shared in my posts and in the Q&A. Compared to being in control of the O-6 operations. I am on the outside. I'm just standing closest to the window. I told DW and DO in a phone call tonight I have never seen an organization that has a plan in front of them and yet they don't know what to do?

It is frustrating to say the least.

Now let's switch the tables, if I were in their shoes knowing what I do from my past work and everything else being same. I would have kicked me out.

They did not.

Keep this question and ask them at the meeting.

Question: Who is Mr. Alexander? What can you tell us about him?

Ed Smith: He is a successful trader in secondary commercial (commercial mortgages, student loans, etc). Mid fifties educated has three children marred thirty plus years.

Question: Going back to the “crates”. You stated there are 8 total, but there are 6 in the field. Are they all on one property?

Ed Smith: I'm speaking only about how the O-6 operations that were conducted. No.

Question: If not how many to a property and do you have a number for the people involved that know about these “crates” and their locations?

Ed Smith: I'm speaking only about how the O-6 operations that were conducted. Maximum of two per property depending on location topology many different factors, a minimum nine personnel per location again it would vary on location.

The examination area would have 1 or 2 additional personnel until needed when the examination team would assemble. The examination team consists of 18 to 20 additional personnel brought in to the location when needed. These are as needed personnel and would be assembled and notified with the "Flash List"

Question: Let’s talk about the “knock down” gas and how you described the air being sucked from the crate to render the subject unconscious. What preparations, if any, were made should the subject not begin to breathe on their own? Could you describe this in more detail as some are alleging simply doing this and not performing some kind of resuscitation (and following up with an immediate tranquilizer) would have ended with the death of the alleged subject.

Ed Smith: The knock down gas system does not force all O2 out of the crate. The escaping air exits through vent slots at the bottom additional air slots at the top of the unit allow air in to the unit at a reduced rate. The system reduces the amount of O2 in the air to cause an unconscious state.

The unit was tested with one O2 sensor in the middle of the unit at half height and four more in each corner at floor level. The system reduced the available O2 level to 9.71% for a duration of 57 seconds O2 levels returned to Normal in 88 seconds, that is why we set the follow on N2 releases at 3.5 minutes. There was no need for necessitation determined.

Question: From what field(s) of study is the group getting advice for sedation, immobilization, general health & welfare and examination?

a. Exotic husbandry (e.g. zookeeping), general biology, wildlife biology, veterinary (domestic, wildlife or exotic), medical, or other?
b. From the field(s) listed in the response for 1.a. which are protocol consultants, hired or on the ground participants, or group members?

Ed Smith: We contracted and compensated zoologist, biologist, geneticists, large animal veterinarians, radiology technicians, medical lab techs some of these professionals were contracted as consultations but some were contracted for the examination team most of these served a dual purpose.

EMT, Ex military personnel, and members of the O-6 staff were utilized in the field operations.

All signed non disclosure agreements and were compensated at 3 to 7 times the normal rates for their profession and participation. When we ceased operation severance compensation was provided.

The majority of them continued on with the Quantra group under new NDA's and compensation packages. O-6 NDA's remain in affect for 25 years or until released. These were reaffirmed at severance.

Now...the following was recently posted on the MABR website by D.W. Lee:

Many will question how this team was decided upon. Ed Smith wanted Dr. Meldrum and Melissa Hovey from the start, he left the remaining members of the team to be decided upon by D.W. Lee. The info below gives a basic background for which the decision was made from.

Dr. Jeff Meldrum - Dr. Meldrum is highly respected by the majority of the Bigfoot Community, and has the scientific background to evaulate the data.

Kathy Strain - Kathy is highly respected by the majority of the Bigfoot Community, and has leadership positions with the AIBR.

Melissa Hovey - Straight-shooter, tells it like it is. Respected by many in the Bigfoot Community for her strong stance to call it like she sees it.

Abe Del Rio - Radio show host, respected by many on both sides of the fence in the Bigfoot Community, from the Forest People side to the Flesh and Blood/Animal side.

Steve Kulls - Radio show host, respected by many from his radio show work, and will help with his experience as an investigator.

The MABRC part of the Bridging Team is as follows:

D.W. Lee "Darkwing" - Executive Director of the MABRC
Randy Harrington "Driveroperator" - Randy is well-known to many of the principles of the Orig-6, and has substantial background knowledge of the last 4 years with Ed Smith and the Orig-6

Jim Whitehead "Biggjimm" - Jim is a degreed biologist, and will help to identify and understand the information presented as part of the meeting.

Rob Gaudet "ElectricBigfoot" - Rob has a great background in technology and will help D.W (who also has background in technology) keep track and understand the technology side of things.

Doug Todd "Holotype" - Scientist, who along with Jim, will provide the scientific side of things for the MABRC.

Steve Kulls issued a statement referencing new "Bridge Team":

I have no details of what is exactly to take place, nor a timeline, a location, nor any photos, videos and the like.

All I have is a commitment to have a meeting with the alleged Bigfoot captors.
This is one of many steps that are necessary to validate their claim. If you’d ask me a couple of weeks ago, what are the odds, that this was real, I’d honestly tell you, “Slim.”

I still feel that way, however I am impressed at this effort.

Other than that, I have been a viewer on the sidelines as much as anyone else.
I have not been in contact with Ed Smith during this time period, and my only contact pertaining to this matter has been the last few days with DW Lee, who has as well wants to this to see this to the end.

Due to my “boots on the ground,” mentality, and Squatchdetective.com’s mission statement, we must follow this to the end to see if such claims are the truth or otherwise.

To have absolute proof, you must follow the proof absolutely.

My personal “proof of life,” is to lay eyes on their specimen. No more, no less, videos, photos, interviews with Team Quantra will not suffice.

I will be releasing no further information on this independently, as I am now part of an assembled group. However I will not allow this to be a long, drawn out process either. This is not for an air of secrecy, but to prevent any wild speculations or conclusions.

NOTE: there are a few people being mentioned in these posts who I trust. As far as the actual contributions they are making, that remains to be seen. At this point, there is nothing more than speculation and name-dropping. Jeff Meldrum will be appearing on 'Beyond The Edge' Radio this coming Sunday January 13th at 8:00 PM. The following week on BTE, Steve Kulls will be participating in a 'Bigfoot Round Table' discussion (Sunday January 20th at 8:00 PM). You may want to tune in both weeks for the latest on this situation...Lon

Just the Facts?: Wales is Britain's Most Haunted -- North Korea Prepares to Open Economy? -- UFO Update

Wales is Britain's Most Haunted

There's something strange going on in Wales – Welsh ghost are on the increase.

Welsh police forces received an unlucky 13 reports of supernatural spirits spooking homes last year, up from only two Welsh ghost incidents in 2010.

Ghosts have been spotted in bedrooms and gardens in Wales, peeping through curtains, and moving objects around their haunted homes.

One frightened caller in Pembroke told police they saw a ghost’s face in a pile of cushions.

A person from Denbigh told police they were assaulted by a ghost, while another caller reported being “grabbed” by a ghastly spirit.

In one spine-chilling report to Dyfed Powys Police, a Haverfordwest caller reported seeing their dad as a ghost.

And one caller’s son in Llandrindod Wells had a touch of the sixth sense after seeing a ghost in their garden.

The spooky sightings were among a total of 34 ghost sightings reported to police forces in Wales since 2002.

Welsh supernatural tour guide Jim Cowan was unsurprised by the sightings, saying Wales is considered one of the most haunted countries in the world.

The 47-year-old, who organises ghost walks as part of Wales History and Hauntings, said: “There are more sightings and reports of ghosts in Wales then anywhere else in the British Isles.

“There are all kinds of theories abounding and there are several leading experts on the whole idea of the supernatural who all recognise Wales appears to be one of the most haunted countries in the world.”

The paranormal activity has been revealed through Freedom of Information requests to Wales’ police forces. Gwent Police did not respond to the request for information.

North Wales Police received the largest number of ghost sighting reports in Wales, with a total of 17 calls between 2006 and this year.

Officers in South Wales Police have been called out to deal with 10 sightings of ghostly paranormal activity between 2007 and 2011.

Those fearing visits from the afterlife may be concerned to learn that officers were called to five ghoulish incidents last year – an increase of two from figures released in 2010.

Among the weird and wonderful sightings reported to the force since 2007, there have been three reports made to police in Cardiff, four in Swansea, one in Bridgend and one in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Dyfed Powys Police have received seven reports of ghost sightings between 2002 and 2011.

One spooked caller from Llanelli reported seeing a ghost peeping through the curtains, while one person in Pembroke said they saw a ghost’s face in a pile of cushions.

Last year South Wales Police revealed the force had received three reports of zombies and two of werewolves being spotted in neighbourhoods. There were also two sightings of vampires and six sightings of witches.

Superintendent Tony Smith said: “South Wales Police does get the odd weird and wonderful call, but residents and visitors needn’t worry about a supernatural invasion just yet. At the moment, we’re still in the business of keeping South Wales safe from crime rather than zombies or werewolves.” - Wales Online

NOTE: We've investigated several hauntings in South Wales at SRI...it definitely has a lot of paranormal activity, especially in the Llanelli area. Lon

Mysterious boom heard in Oklahoma

People living in Guthrie have been reporting a mysterious noise around town.

Those who have heard it say it’s an unnerving boom.

“Just a loud one time boom,” said Lucy Swanson.

“I heard something pretty loud and a little bit disturbing,” said Justin Fortney.

The descriptions are similar, but no one knows where it’s coming from.

It was heard twice Wednesday around 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

“It was very loud, very noticeable, and it shook the house just slightly,” said Swanson.

Police dispatchers say the officer responding to the blast heard it from his patrol car but couldn’t find a source.

“You hear it, and you want to kind of call your friends and family and say, ‘Did you hear that? That was gigantic! What just exploded?’,” said Fortney.

It’s nothing new to Mayor Chuck Burtcher. He says he first received calls from about the boom three months ago.

Everyone seems to have their own theory behind the boom.

“I know there’s oil field exploration. That’s the easiest explanation I had for that,” said the Mayor.

Others say rumors are others in town might have gun ranges. People say it’s possible a transformer blew up.

However, people say the sound is too close to town to be oil field testing, which is miles on the outskirts of town, and OG&E says no transformers have blown recently.
For now, the sound that shakes Guthrie remains nameless. - Video at KFOR

'You're not getting out of here...'

A woman accused of trying to kill her 74-year-old mother by pushing her back into their burning Lakeside home after setting fire to the residence on New Year's Day pleaded not guilty Friday to attempted murder, arson, elder abuse, dissuading a witness and other charges.

Neomi Lynn Rodriguez, 41, was ordered held on $1.5 million bail over the objection of prosecutor C.J. Mody, who urged that no bail be set.

Mody said the defendant, who faces 12 1/2 years in prison if convicted, was arrested two days prior to the Jan. 1 fire after she called the Sheriff's Department to say she was having hallucinations from being under the influence of methamphetamine. Rodriguez was released from custody 10 to 12 hours later, and authorities were again called to the home about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

"This is obviously a sad and tragic case where a 74-year-old mother lost her house -- her house was burned down -- she could have been seriously hurt or injured, and we felt that no bail was appropriate in this case," Mody told reporters.

Mody said the victim -- identified as Kazuko Martinez -- was in bed Tuesday afternoon when she got up and noticed her daughter's bedroom was on fire.

As the mother tried to leave, her daughter grabbed her and tried to push her into the burning bedroom, but she was able to resist and proceeded toward the front door, the prosecutor said.

Mody alleged that the defendant tackled her mother and said, "You're not getting out of here." Rodriguez used a tablecloth to try to bind her mother to a dining room table, but the older woman was able to break free, the prosecutor alleged. Rodriguez also ripped the phone out of her mother's hand when she tried to call 911, according to Mody, who said neighbors heard the victim's screams and were able to get her away from the burning house.

The defendant tried to stop the neighbors from using garden hoses to put out the fire, the prosecutor alleged.

Both mother and daughter were treated for smoke inhalation.

Judge Charles Ervin said Rodriguez was on misdemeanor probation and had previously failed to appear in court on six occasions.

Rodriguez faces misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and being under the influence of a controlled substance stemming from the Dec. 30 incident. She will be back in court Jan. 10 for a readiness conference and Jan. 17 for a preliminary hearing. - CBS8

North Korea Prepares to Open Economy?

Pyongyang may be preparing to open up its economy. A report in a prominent newspaper claims the regime has enlisted the aid of German economic and legal experts to lay the groundwork for foreign investment in North Korean companies. The move could be made as soon as this year.

On New Year's Day, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for a "radical" economic renewal for his country and an end to decades of conflict with South Korea. Now, a German media report says he is moving quickly to fulfill at least the first pledge.

According to an article to be published on Saturday by the daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the communist regime in Pyongyang is preparing to open up the country's economy to foreign investors. Moreover, it has enlisted the assistance of German economists and lawyers to lay the groundwork for the move.

"There is a master plan," one of the economists involved in the plan told the paper. "They want to open up this year." The FAZ did not identify the economist, but noted that he works at a respected German university and that he had advised other governments in Asia in the past.

The economist told the paper that the country is primarily interested in modernizing its laws relating to foreign investment. However, North Korea is not intending to follow the Chinese model, which called for the creation of special economic zones for foreign investors, the economist told the FAZ. "Rather, they are interested in the Vietnamese model, in which specific companies were chosen as recipients of investments," the source said.

Signs of Change

Such a move would be revolutionionary for North Korea, which has long been largely cut off from the rest of the world by virtue of its heavy-handed regime. The country's economy is in a shambles as a result. But since Kim Jong Un took over from his late father just over a year ago, there have been signs of change.

His New Year's address was the most obvious indication that he is prepared to embark on a path different from the one followed by his father, Kim Jong Il. Indeed, even holding such an address was a departure; it marked the first such speech by a North Korean leader since Kim Il Sung held the last one in 1994.

Furthermore, Kim was surprisingly open about the poor economic situation in which his country finds itself. He pledged renewal, indicating that it would largely be dependent on continued technological advancement. He also highlighted last month's rocket launch, saying it was a boost for "national self-esteem."

Still, even as the FAZ reports that there are many in the country's leadership who are in favor of opening up the country to investments from Japanese, South Korean and Western companies, the professor the paper cites notes that it is far from a done deal.

"The military in North Korea," he told the paper, "will not want to give up power." He added that it is by no means clear whether Kim's reform efforts will be able to overcome military resistance. - Spiegal

Ketchum: '2013...will be the Year of the Sasquatch'

I noticed today that Dr. Melba Ketchum has posted a few recent comments in reference to her DNA study:

Well, the holidays are over and now everything is getting back down to business. Thank goodness, it slowed things down on our end. 2013, finally will be the Year of the Sasquatch! I personally cannot wait! - Dr. Melba Ketchum

I am so grateful for all of the love and support that those on here have given me over the eternity that this has taken. I promise that all of you will be blown away with the amount of data that we have accumulated. There is more data in our manuscript than has ever been submitted to prove a new species in an original manuscript. The world will never be the same after this but it is for the best. We must stop the insanity of hunting them (after all, people will be misidentified and targeted also). We will be hearing more shortly. Yes, all of the haters can now feel free to dump on the word "shortly". - Dr. Melba Ketchum

There is no indication as to which peer review, if any, will be publishing the results. It does seem that we are getting closer to a final report. My source within the study submission group is confident that we will be getting results very soon. Lon

Esoterica: 'Spiritual' People & Mental Health -- Scientology's 'Alien Space Cathedral' -- Condemned to the Noose

'Spiritual' people at higher risk of mental health problems

People who claim to be ‘spiritual’ but not religious are often struggling to cope mentally, according to a study.

They are more likely to suffer from a range of mental health problems than either the conventionally religious or those who are agnostic or atheists, found researchers at University College London.

They are more disposed towards anxiety disorders, phobias and neuroses, have eating disorders and drug problems.

In addition, they are more likely than others to be taking medication for mental health problems.

Professor Michael King, from University College London, and his fellow researchers wrote in the British Journal of Psychiatry: "Our main finding is that people who had a spiritual understanding of life had worse mental health than those with an understanding that was neither religious nor spiritual."

The study was based on a survey of 7,403 randomly selected men and women in England who were questioned about their spiritual and religious beliefs, and mental state.

Of the participants, 35 per cent described themselves as "religious", meaning they attended a church, mosque, synagogue or temple. Five in six of this group were Christian.

Almost half (46 per cent) described themselves as neither religious nor spiritual, while the 19 per cent remainder said they had spiritual beliefs but did not adhere to a particular religion.

Members of this final group were 77 per cent more likely than the others to be dependent on drugs, 72 per cent more likely to suffer from a phobia, and 50 per cent more likely to have a generalised anxiety disorder.

They were also 40 per cent more likely to be receiving treatment with psychotropic drugs, and at a 37 per cent higher risk of neurotic disorder.

The researchers concluded: "We conclude that there is increasing evidence that people who profess spiritual beliefs in the absence of a religious framework are more vulnerable to mental disorder.

"The nature of this association needs greater examination in qualitative and in prospective quantitative research." - Telegraph

Condemned to the Noose

Ralph Sutherland, who, early in the last century, occupied a stone house a mile from Leeds, in the Catskills, was a man of morose and violent disposition, whose servant, a Scotch girl, was virtually a slave, inasmuch as she was bound to work for him without pay until she had refunded to him her passage-money to this country. Becoming weary of bondage and of the tempers of her master, the girl ran away. The man set off in a raging chase, and she had not gone far before Sutherland overtook her, tied her by the wrists to his horse's tail, and began the homeward journey. Afterward, he swore that the girl stumbled against the horse's legs, so frightening the animal that it rushed off madly, pitching him out of the saddle and dashing the servant to death on rocks and trees; yet, knowing how ugly-tempered he could be, his neighbors were better inclined to believe that he had driven the horse into a gallop, intending to drag the girl for a short distance, as a punishment, and to rein up before he had done serious mischief. On this supposition he was arrested, tried, and sentenced to die on the scaffold.

The tricks of circumstantial evidence, together with pleas advanced by influential relatives of the prisoner, induced the court to delay sentence until the culprit should be ninety-nine years old, but it was ordered that, while released on his own recognizance, in the interim, he should keep a hangman's noose about his neck and show himself before the judges in Catskill once every year, to prove that he wore his badge of infamy and kept his crime in mind. This sentence he obeyed, and there were people living recently who claimed to remember him as he went about with a silken cord knotted at his throat. He was always alone, he seldom spoke, his rough, imperious manner had departed. Only when children asked him what the rope was for were his lips seen to quiver, and then he would hurry away. After dark his house was avoided, for gossips said that a shrieking woman passed it nightly, tied at the tail of a giant horse with fiery eyes and smoking nostrils; that a skeleton in a winding sheet had been found there; that a curious thing, somewhat like a woman, had been known to sit on his garden wall, with lights shining from her finger-tips, uttering unearthly laughter; and that domestic animals reproached the man by groaning and howling beneath his windows.

These beliefs he knew, yet he neither grieved, nor scorned, nor answered when he was told of them. Years sped on. Every year deepened his reserve and loneliness, and some began to whisper that he would take his own way out of the world, though others answered that men who were born to be hanged would never be drowned; but a new republic was created; new laws were made; new judges sat to minister them; so, on Ralph Sutherland's ninety-ninth birthday anniversary, there were none who would accuse him or execute sentence. He lived yet another year, dying in 1801. But was it from habit, or was it in self-punishment and remorse, that he never took off the cord? for, when he drew his last breath, though it was in his own house, his throat was still encircled by the hangman's rope. - Myths and Legends of Our Own Land - Complete

The 'alien space cathedral' built in New Mexico desert by the Church of Scientology

These giant symbols etched into the desert are a welcoming message to aliens from Tom Cruise's deeply secretive church of Scientology.

The religion, which believes a sinister extraterrestrial being called Xenu brought billions of people to earth in spaceships similar to DC8 airliners, operates a giant underground base hidden deep within the New Mexico desert.

BBC reporter John Sweeney, who famously clashed with Scientologists during a Panorama report in 2007, travelled to the site dubbed Scientology's 'alien space cathedral', to research a new book.

Welcome to earth: The huge symbol etched into the desert in New Mexico next to the Scientology base dubbed the 'alien space cathedral'

Hidden some 30 miles from the nearest town, the base is reportedly home to a huge underground bunker, built in the 1980's and strong enough to withstand a nuclear holocaust.

Deep inside its vaults sealed within titanium caskets, are the original texts of founder L Ron Hubbard on gold discs - the religion's most sacred scriptures.

A report in the Sun newspaper tells how Sweeney visited the site, known as Trementina Base, and interviewed former members of the church of Scientology for the new book Church of Fear.

Mr Sweeney, who the church has previously described as 'a bigot, a liar and psychotic' said: 'I'd alway wanted to visit Trementina because when you go to the church they always deny this talk of Xenu and space aliens.

'When I spoke to Kirsty Alley and Juliette Lewis in 2007 and asked them 'who is Xenu?' they'd say "John, you're crazy".

'But if I'm wrong about the church believing in aliens, then why have they built these giant symbols in the middle of the desert that can only be seen from outer space?

'I think there is something very strange about a church which builds an enormous cathedral but then hides it away from everyone.

'What concerns me is that Scientology says it wants religious status in the UK. But our rules state religions must be open and honest about their beliefs and I think these are good rules.

'This place is physical proof that they do believe in aliens. I'd like to see Tom Cruise and John Travolta explain why they hide this from people.'

The symbols, which consist of two interlinking circles with diamonds in the centre, are reportedly there to guide Scientologists returning to earth after fleeing to outer space to escape armageddon.

Mr Sweeney was accompanied by a former Scientologist Marc Headley, who claims to have been 'audited' by Cruise and then beaten up by the church’s leader David Miscavige - incidents which the church strongly deny.

After travelling many miles along a dirt road, the pair made it as far as a set of huge steel gates guarded by two security cameras, where they were turned away.

He writes: 'I press an intercom button. A voice says “Hello” in what sounds like a Scandinavian accent. I announce that I’m John Sweeney and ask nicely for a tour.

'We are not invited in and the intercom simply spouts white noise. We drive back to civilisation, wondering what kind of religion builds a space alien cathedral underground.'

The reporter claims he received two mysterious phone calls to his hotel room at 1am that night for which he believes Scientologists were responsible.

Mr Headley, who was brought up inside the church from the age of six, has written the book Blown For Good: Inside the Dark Curtain of Scientology.

In it he reveals how the church's E-meter devices, which are used to measure the static electric field around a person, cost just $40 to make but are sold for $4,000 (£2,400). And church leaders reccomend everyone should have two in case one breaks.

In a piece published in the Mail earlier this year Mr Sweeney recounted the incident in 2007 when he lost his temper at two Scientologists who had been trailing him across America.

He said: 'Five years ago, I spent weeks at the centre of the church’s attention. Private investigators who, I believe, were working for the church chased me around the streets of Los Angeles, invaded my hotel at midnight and put me under surveillance. Strangers spied on my wedding and knocked on the doors of my neighbours.

'In the end, I lost it on camera, doing a good impression of an exploding tomato.

'In the 21st century, everyone has a right to believe in anything, or nothing. But not everything that claims to be a religion is a religion. It could be, for example, a brain-washing cult.

'For a start, a religion must be honest about what it believes in. Scientologists believe in a space alien satan called Xenu — but if you ask them, their spokesmen deny it.'

A spokesman for Scientology said the giant markings are merely the corporate logo of the Church of Spiritual Technology (CST) which are used to help pilots find the airstrip.

The Scientology website describes CST as 'a California nonprofit religious corporation formed in 1982 to preserve and archive the Scientology scripture and so ensure its availability for all future generations'.

The spokesman said: 'The facility in New Mexico is one of the archival storage sites containing preservation copies of Mr. Hubbard’s writings and lectures.

'The symbol carved in the hillside near the facility is CST’s corporate logo. Because the facility is in such a remote area the only way to it is by way of a nearby airstrip.' - Daily Mail

Arizona psychics help find missing persons, solve homicides

When the authorities, friends and other volunteers couldn't find Jack Culolias this December, his family called an outside group for help.

Within hours of arriving at the riverbed near Tempe Marketplace, where Culolias was last seen, those searchers from FindMe found the 19-year-old's body.

FindMe not only uses former law enforcement officers and trained search dogs with their handlers, but also more than 100 psychics from around the world.

CBS 5 News asked Snyder to demonstrate how they did it.

Dan Baldwin works with a map and a pendulum. Treyce Montoya uses her intuition. Both have accuracy rates far higher than pure chance, Snyder said. They were just two of those who pinpointed the location of Culolias' body.

"In this particular case, I got out my pendulum and asked for specific directions," Baldwin said. "Is he north of the theatre? South of the theatre?"

Baldwin said micro-muscles in his finger move the pendulum. But they move it in the direction of his subconscious mind.

"It works," he said. "I know it works from repeated personal experience."

Baldwin was also part of the search team that found another missing student nearly two years ago. Willie Jigba disappeared in January 2011. After two weeks his family called FindMe. Days after taking the case, the group notified authorities that they had found his body in Tempe Town Lake.

Snyder, who is a retired DEA and U.S. Customs agent, sends identical information about a case to several of his psychics on the team. They use their various abilities, such as channeled information, dowsing, card readings, etc., and report their results back to him. Snyder then compiles the data to find the most pieces that match each other.

Snyder said FindMe will only work on missing persons cases if police or families contact him. There is a never a charge, and all of their information is made available to investigators.

The FindMe website has multiple comments from family members and police officers who believe in what the group does.

"We have vetted psychics, psychics who have been doing this all their lives," Snyder said. "We want to enhance what the police already do." - KPHO
