Reader Submission: Fearful Knocking

Hello - I was living in a small rental house in Jamestown, North Dakota, between 1999 and 2001, while attending Jamestown College. During the Fall semester I heard strange "knockings" at the bedroom windows. I couldn't figure out why people were going around knocking so loudly in the middle of the night. The following year, between September and November, things really got bizarre. The knockings were occurring all around my house, at the doors and on all of the windows. I got up and scooted around the house looking for what ever it was in case something was trying to get in. I realized it was moving too fast to be human. At that point my daughter who was 14 at the time, woke up as well. Before that evening I thought one of her friends was fooling with us. She got out of bed and followed me around the house in order to see what was going on. We both became concerned. We really got scared when whatever it was, went under the house and started knocking from underneath the floor. All there was under there was a small muddy crawl space, and the only access was through my bedroom closet. This continued every night for several weeks. We were so frightened that we slept in the same room with the TV on high volume all night just so we would not have to hear it, although it was impossible to ignore.

At this same time a friend, who was living a mile or so away, was having similar experiences. Something would knock all around her house, on the roof and the floors. I might have put this out of my mind except for the fact that a few weeks after I had moved out in the Fall of 2001, the local news reported that the next tenant had tried to burn the house down. Their reason for doing so was "that the devil told them to do it."

My friend still heard knockings every year during the Fall season. She moved a few years later. I am so grateful it left me alone after I moved.

My question is, do you have any idea what this was? Was it an evil spirit or something similar? Can something like this follow people around? Cara

NOTE: It's interesting that I received this email when I did. We are currently working on a case (Spirit Rescue International) near London with very similar circumstances...strange knocking sounds throughout a residence. Some of the other information parallels as well....very odd. At this point, I don't want to mention any further details but I promise to follow up at a later time...Lon
