Would You Give A Child This Book?

I have a story to tell and I would like some input by the readers. I know what the majority of the answers are going to be but I have my reasons for asking the question.

Would you give a young teenager a book about psychic vampires? The specific book is detailed at The Vampire Codex...this is an internet version of the book supplied by the author. Should a child be given this information?

Several months ago, Spirit Rescue International was asked to investigate, research and remote view a residence in Connecticut. The client was a ghost hunter who had gotten a bit reckless and didn't protect herself....thus attracting a multitude of entities into the home that caused various problems. The client was also obsessed with EVP recordings and constantly setup a recorder in the residence. It had gotten to the point that we were called in to clear the location. Unfortunately the client refused to stop looking for ghosts and continued to re-infest the home. There were many other factors involved as well...but the bottom line is that the client simply refused to help herself.

During the investigation we were told that the young teenage girl living in the home had become interested in the client's ghost hunting activities and that the client purchased The Vampire Codex for the teen. Frankly, we were shocked and considered dropping the investigation...but are committed to help those who are truly in need. Eventually the client was requiring constant attention and interfering with other cases we were working. She could not understand why new spirits were moving into the location as well as attaching to her. Out of frustration the client lashed out and blamed us for her predicament.

As serious investigators we expect some people and clients will not understand what we do. This is not television...it's real-life and we solve real entity hauntings and possessions. It's not about money or glory...it's about helping. Some times it's a humbling endeavor...but most times it is very satisfying, even though we may not get a simple 'thank you'.

Please go to the book link, read the information and comment on this. Thanks...Lon

First of all I would advise you to drop this case. It is apparent that they can not be helped. They are not only not allowing you to help them, but interfering with your work and blaming you for their problem. They called you to help them! You aren't to blame they are, and if they won't let you help them; drop the case. You did all you could do and should be proud of that fact.

As for giving the book to a teenager, I believe it's OK. I used to have a Pagan friend in high school and he loved these sort of books. I like paranormal stuff too, but it's not like I want to go out and practice witchcraft or vampirism. They're just books. In this case though, I do feel it was a bad idea. The kid is already troubled by spirits and lives in a house with someone that encourages paranormal activity. Reading this book may make the kid pursue this lifestyle, not because they want to, but because that's what they think is wanted of them. I also think it would be a bad idea to give it to someone under a certain age. It should only be given to someone mature enough to understand what this book is really about.

My thoughts on things of this nature are as follows: If it ultimately protects the child, and the child is old enough to understand, yes. Just like there are pedophiles out there, there are other things that can harm them. I know people who are energy vampires. T^here is much more to this world than meets the eye and not believing doesn't change that. There are all manner of dangers out there and not preparing or talking with a child about these things leaves all those things an open field. Knowledge is power. If your child comes to you with questions, answer the questions or find out the answers and get back to them. God loans us our children and it is our responsibility to help them grow, protect them and help them to fly on their own.

Hmmm....this is a hard question. A true "child" no. (Like 10-12, or even under.) An immature teenager...absolutely NOT! A mature teenager...perhaps. I think the whole "psychic vampire" thing bothers me greatly enough to the point where I wouldn't want even most adults to have such a book though.

Personally, it depends on the maturity of the child, some teenagers are a lot more grown up than you'd think.

Though, I would have given them one of Michelle's other books: "Ghost Hunter's Survival Guide" because that book details how to protect yourself psychically & clear spaces.

To a child?
No.
Probably not to an "adult" either.

You play with fire,
you get burned.

The sad part is that people like this will drag other people,
even children or those who trying to help them,
into the fire with them.
