Whisperin' Bill Anderson and His Haunted Tour Bus

When Whisperin' Bill Anderson embarked on his 12-day Canadian tour on March 23, he thought it would just be business as usual, rolling down the highway in his tour bus going from one gig to the next.

But Bill and his Po' Folks Band had a rude awakening ... literally. During the first few nights on the road, the Country Music Hall of Famer heard some eerie moaning sounds coming from the bus' back state room. Then, last Wednesday night (Mar. 24), the bus driver had to come to a screeching halt after hearing a loud scream.

That's when Bill's sense of humor kicked in. "I'm trying to figure out if it's Hank Williams wanting to co-write a song or Faron Young just messing with my head," he jokes with That Nashville Sound.

We're guessing Bill's nickname may change to 'Screamin'' Bill Anderson if his ghostly friends don't find a new bus and let him get some sleep!

Greatest Story Ever Told or Biggest Paranormal Event Ever Known?

Click for video

abcnews - The History Channel revealed for the first time Tuesday night a new 3-D image that many believe to be the face of Christ, causing mixed reaction around the globe.

Artists and scientists studied the Shroud of Turin, a cloth that some say was wrapped around Jesus' face when he died, to develop the image.

"If you want to re-create the face of Jesus and you want to get the actual face of Jesus, you have only one object and that's the shroud," said computer artist Ray Downing of Studio Macbeth in New York City, which specializes in digital illustration and animation.

While some people said the image was "realistic" and what they imagined Christ looked like, others were not as certain.

"I find it questionable," one man told ABC News.

"I don't think there should be any one face," a woman said.

Another man questioned whether the Shroud of Turin was real.

"I believe it is an accurate image of whoever the shroud belongs to, but it's unclear if that shroud belongs to Jesus Christ," he said.

Others said they felt a spiritual connection to the image.

"I see love. I see compassion. I see my savior," said one woman who was at the Vatican when she saw the image.

The drive to create the image and the intense response to it are examples of the profound role that Jesus plays in so many lives.

"There's a long tradition in Christian theology and Christian history of seeking the face of Christ, of wanting to know what he was like as a man," said the Rev. Jonathan Morris, a Catholic priest and author in New York City.

Finding Jesus' Face

The centuries-old shroud contains a faint impression of the front and back of a human body, along with blood, dirt and water stains from its age.

Cutting-edge modern skills were required to pull an accurate flesh and blood face from a piece of fabric so old.

The year-long project culminated with a team of graphic artists using the newest technology to create a computer-generated image.

"I have a lot of information about that face and my estimation is we're pretty darn close to what this man looked like," Downing, the lead artist, said.

Ancient Shroud Provides Clues

One of the main problems -- the condition of the shroud -- provided key clues. The team realized there were distortions in the image on the shroud because the fabric had been wrapped around the body.

"The solution was to realize that the shroud wasn't hanging on the wall, it was wrapping a corpse," said Downing, who has also used computers to create images of Abraham Lincoln. "That's the crux of the problem, the face is hidden in there."

"By imitating those distortions, we could take the image and put it back into that shape and figure out what the face looked like … it gave us a blueprint," he said.

After forming the blueprint, the computer artists started the recreation. Of course, there were limitations to what they could do with what they had.

"Inevitably, you do run out of information," Downing said. "You can't see the pores in a linen fabric. There are no eyebrows. It doesn't take a lot of guesswork to assign pores and skin texture to a model, to know that the man did have eyebrows and to provide them. At some point, you do have to leave the realm of actual information and use experience."

NOTE: Now, before people start shooting emails off to me stating I'm a religious zealot, please understand...I'm only interested in the historical and possible paranormal aspect of this phenomenon. Though I'm familiar with the teachings of the Christian faith (in my case, a childhood of having it force down my throat) I am not a follower. I do call myself 'spiritual' but in a sense not related to any organized religion. Personally, I believe that there was an actual Jesus of Nazareth who very well may have had followers who believed that he was a rabbi and the Messiah. Was he able to heal and provide as stated by his disciples? The Bible is a wonderful historical document but, so are the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Koran, the Shruti Vedas and other ancient religious texts. I lean towards interpreting Judeo-Christian and other ritual dogma in a more metaphysical manner. There is an excellent website on the Shroud of Turin that includes several links and theories...Lon

Psychiatrist Claims the 'King of Pop' Being Harassed In Heaven

NOTE: The following statement comes from Abraham Tribesky, the 'Psychiatrist To Deceased Hollywood Stars.' Apparently, some of Tribesky's 'deceased clients' (in particular, a deceased 'sitcom actor') are telling him that dead pop star Michael Jackson is being harassed in 'Heaven' by furious residents who don’t believe he should be there. OK...well, where do these heavenly residents think Jackson should be? I'm looking forward to more of this divine soap opera...Lon

“A lot of people feel like Michael Jackson cut some sort of shady deal to get into Heaven and they’re not happy campers. These are guys and gals who feel they did the right thing while they were alive and Jackson, well, he pulled a few strings to get here. They contend that rich and powerful dead people are getting special treatment on the Other Side just like in real life–and they’re furious.

“The result is that a small group of protesters has been harassing Michael Jackson ever since he surprised them by popping up here. The King of Pop can’t go anywhere without being followed by critics who’d like to expel him from Heaven.

“And their campaign seems to be working. Just yesterday Jackson was spotted moaning incantations with a notorious group of hooded, monk-like figures with connections to what we in Heaven simply call the Other Place.

“Michael Jackson may truly belong in Heaven. But the way things are going, he’ll most likely be happier moving on.”

Disclosed: Pig's Blood Used In Cigarette Filters

ukmedix - Cigarettes may contain traces of pigs' blood, an Australian academic says with a warning that religious groups could find its undisclosed presence "very offensive". University of Sydney Professor in Public Health Simon Chapman points to recent Dutch research which identified 185 different industrial uses of a pig - including the use of its haemoglobin in cigarette filters.

Prof Chapman said the research offered an insight into the otherwise secretive world of cigarette manufacture, and it was likely to raise concerns for devout Muslims and Jews. Religious texts at the core of both of these faiths specifically ban the consumption of pork.

"I think that there would be some particularly devout groups who would find the idea that there were pig products in cigarettes to be very offensive," Prof Chapman said.

"The Jewish community certainly takes these matters extremely seriously and the Islamic community certainly do as well, as would many vegetarians.

"It just puts into hard relief the problem that the tobacco industry is not required to declare the ingredients of cigarettes ... they say 'that's our business' and a trade secret." The Dutch research found pig haemoglobin - a blood protein - was being used to make cigarette filters more effective at trapping harmful chemicals before they could enter a smoker's lungs.

At least one cigarette brand sold in Greece was confirmed as using pig haemoglobin in its processes, Prof Chapman said. "If you're a smoker and you're of Islamic or Jewish faith then you'd probably would want to know and there is no way of finding out."

Unusual Rock Carving Discovered in West Virginia

I found an interesting post today:

A few days ago, a gentleman was walking in the woods, in an undisclosed location in WV, when he happened upon a curiously carved rock. This particular gent has been all over this ground, for years, and had never noticed this rock carving before.

He came back and reported the find, and so far no one else has ever noticed it before either. Keep in mind these gents have been all over this territory hunting and such, and are keen observers due to that pursuit. No much gets by them, but no one has noticed this rock before.

I went out this morning in the company of one of them to see this rock for myself, as I was not a little dubious.

The rock itself is embedded in the bed of a small mountain stream, around 200 meters or so away from the nearest road, up a small hollow. The stream I think is mostly dry, but has had some water running in it lately due to heavy rains. The area it's in is little frequented, and mostly uninhabited.

The circle is 22 inches wide at the inside edge of the circle, and 21 1/2 inches tall at the inside edge of the circle. The depth that the circle is cut to is between 5/8 and 3/4 of an inch. The orientation of the stem of the central "tree" is east by north-east.

I did a cursory search of Google images (just the first 20 pages) and found similar, but not identical, figures. They were the Norse "World tree" (Yggdrasil), the Celtic "Tree of Life", and a Buddhist figure somewhat resembling the carving. None of these explains how THIS carving would be found in the middle of nowhere in West Virginia, with this obvious patina of age.

The "branches" of the central "tree" vaguely resemble the layout of the surrounding hollows. There has been some lively discussion today of whether or not this could be some sort of "map" of the surrounding one or two square miles. Some say it most likely IS, others are equally certain that it ISN'T. So far, no theory has been advanced as to why anyone would take the time to rock-cut a map of such a small area.

An idea has been advanced that it is some sort of Indian carving, but no purpose for it has been suggested.

Why the "tree"? Why the circle? Why in the middle of nowhere, off the beaten path, in an uninhabited area? Why in the middle of a stream bed? Who would take the time to carve it, and for what purpose?

Any ideas? Explanations? suggestions for further research? I have to admit my perplexity in the matter once again.

NOTE: The thread can be found at ATS. There were references about the patina of the carving not matching the surrounding rock surface, though on closer inspection it does seem that there is some overlap. Could it be a Knights of the Golden Circle map used to mark buried gold from Confederate sympathizers? Possible Native American? Take a look and judge for yourself (click the images for a larger version)...Lon

Video: Triangular Shaped UFO / OVNI - Luque, Paraguay - 3/26/2010

Click for video

Residents of the city of Luque witnessed a strange luminous object late at night. It was soon reported as a UFO. Startled, they described the event and displayed the recording.

inexplicata - According to their story, the sighting involved a large object with several lights whose colors changed constantly.

Raul Torres explained that his sister informed him of the object's manifestation. He went outside for a look and realized that it was an object moving slowly across the skies, with lights that changed colors.

"It wasn't your ordinary star. It moved and then remained still," added Selva Torres. "Its bright flashes, and its colors, impressed us all. Many of us here were watching."

NOTE: I just wish people would stop using the 'X-Files' theme on these videos. Anyway, it's not the best quality video but depicts some interesting movement from this object. Luque is near the national capital Asuncion in central Paraguay...Lon

'Railway Tank Car' UFO Sighting Near Amherstburg, Ontario

I recently received the following account from Stephen in Windsor, Ontario:

On the morning of August 12 2001, after viewing the Perseid Meteor shower just about a half hour or so before the sun was to rise, my brother-in-law and myself were stunned when suddenly, what appeared to be a totally black object which looked very similar to and the size of a railway tank car, floated up very slowly on a 45 degree angle out of a line of trees just to our right. We were in a remote area of the countryside in Essex County in Malden Township outside of Amherstburg, Ontario.

The road we were on, which is virtually unused at night, was about a half mile from the entrance of Holiday Beach Provincial Park where there are many scattered ponds just off Lake Erie. The object, which we watched rise for about 10 or so minutes, suddenly stopped and then began to very slowly rise straight up directly in front of us about 500 to 700 feet away.

It continued to rise until it turned into a brilliant coppery orange colour as it ascended into the glow of the rising sunlight. As it continued to rise it became blue and disappeared into the blue of the morning sky. All total the event lasted 20-25 minutes.

The object was completely silent and moved so slowly that it was apparent it was not a balloon or anything of that sort, like a blimp no lights...nothing. We have no idea what it was but coming up out of the area of the ponds and being the shape of a tank car does seem a bit odd!! The recent findings of water ice on the surface of the moon leads us to wonder if this was some sort of shuttle being used to ship water up there? Who knows? Because of the remoteness of the area (there are a few farms and such) it makes us wonder if we were not supposed to have seen this!!

Stephen LeBoeuf - Windsor, Ontario, Canada

NOTE: Stephen mentioned that he had filed a report with NUFORC previously. Apparently, there was no investigation. This is truly a bizarre sighting...an abduction of a tank car? Government project? I look forward to any information or thoughts...Lon

Aliens: What Do They Look Like?

Chris Holly's Paranormal World - Years ago I was surfing around the net and found myself in a chat room that was full of adults discussing UFO’s and aliens. I listened for a long time as a strange woman talked in a monotone slow soft voice intentionally trying to control the people listening to her in this chat room. The woman speaking tried her best to portray a mysterious air of one knowing all the secrets of the universe.

Of course this was a silly lost soul seeking attention for agenda’s of her own strange needs. Her knowledge of space and science was extremely limited. Her claim of flying around the universe was closer to a Disney ride then anything closely related to reality.

She also claimed to have about 50 odd aliens whom she visited by way of a portal in her bedroom closet. She had adorable drawings of the cutest little cuddly little alien fellows of all different kinds on her profile. She added a lovely touch of having them dressed in cute little monk style robes or sweet little outfits that really tied her ridiculous story together with a true flare.

The thing that caught my attention the most was not the silliness of this lost woman but the group of adults who sat listening to her hanging on every single childish word as fact.

I wondered why it never occurred to any of them that it was highly unlikely that 50 different alien species would all be visiting her by way of her bedroom closet . I found it strange that not one person questioned the idea that the aliens were able to walk around our planet’s atmosphere and survive much less be dressed in robes and overall jeans! I think about my visit to that chat room with a shake of my head and a smile.

Maybe we all have gotten our brains dummy juiced by way of Hollywood concerning our concept of what aliens would look like. Typically most people think of them as the grays with large dark almond shaped eyes, or little green men. There are other forms that seem to be popular including reptilians, bug looking aliens and tall blond fair skinned visitors.

The truth is the possibilities in this universe are endless as to what other life forms may look like. I know there are billions and billions of galaxies in our universe each with millions of stars. Each star may have planets or solar systems which may contain millions of civilizations of all kinds of living beings.

There might be other intelligent life forms that may be like us. This of course would require many things to be like our chemical and DNA makeup. We are a carbon based life system. Chances are there may be others.

This is where we seem to lose our thinking. Chances are they are not carbon based but something else and are not DNA by design but QNA or something completely unknown to our structure.

Let’s think about a solar system like Sirius which a very hot star making it impossible for humans to exist. It would however be a place that maybe silicon based beings could evolve and advance. They could survive in an environment we could not.

They also would be beings made from the same material our computers have developed from. Could beings like that be more machine like with less biological material to worry about in their harsh chemical life base? Could those who visit us be closer to our computers then to us? Could that be why we are being walked towards an era of technology where we constantly have cell phones to our heads or walk mindlessly texting throughout our days? Maybe it is no accident we are addicted to our gadgets, our computers and our Televisions. It does give me pause and reason to turn off from the technology grid and tune in to my own humanity. I am not ready to become a walking living programmed machine.

What if our universal neighbors live on a gaseous planet? Could they be large cloud like thinking floating jelly fish type creatures absorbing what they need from their atmosphere and communicating via telepathy?

I can imagine beings of other planets being fish like, bug like or even pure energy without any specific form. I would imagine most beings would have some type of form to hold a brain type structure and many with appendages to build or function. I also realize that they may have two or more brains and many appendages. There also could be those who have mastered the ability to use their brains or thought to move objects and have no need for any type of arms or legs at all. They may be floating brains of energy that simply think life and it happens.

The point is that we need to include science and be realistic when thinking about and preparing for other life forms in our universe. To constantly think they have to resemble us to some degree is just typical egotistical human thinking. They may look somewhat like us and they may not look like us at all.

Aliens most likely would not be able to cope with our climate and planet’s atmosphere just as we cannot simply walk out on Mars surface or for that matter our own Moon. I would think that protective suits or covering would most likely be needed by visiting alien species. I would not be surprised if the grays are exactly that- aliens in protective suits.

Someday we will understand much more about the universe we live in. I think the best thing we can do is keep our minds open and our options wide concerning whom or what shares this universe with us.

Along with the difference in structure, chemical makeup and body design of other life forms we must understand that they also will have different life views. Things we consider important may not be of any consideration to an alien. Things we find offensive or cruel may be common place and normal to a life form with little or no knowledge of the ways of humans.

It would be foolish for us to make our assumptions of life out there by way of life here. The only thing we can be sure of is that we have no idea what is past our own backyard. Once we grasp that fact and understand it is impossible for us to be alone we can begin to slowly reach towards the stars and all those who share this big amazing universe with us.

Be careful out there and keep looking up.

Terrified Katie 'Jordan' Price Selling Her Haunted Mansion

NOTW - Terrified Jordan is selling off her mansion...because a pair of ghosts are putting the willies up her.

The glamour queen has told pals she's had enough of the spooky woman who appears upstairs and a scary ghoul that hogs her sunbed.

But she's not thinking of calling Ghostbusters.

Instead the reality TV star - real name Katie Price - is phoning her estate agent to put the £2.5 million home on the market. She currently shares the "haunted house" with her very own Slimer, Alex Reid.

Last night, a close friend of the reality TV star revealed: "Katie wants out of there quickly as she's convinced it's haunted by a pair of ghosts.

"She feels like she's being driven out of her own home by spirits - she's had enough."

Jordan, 31, reckons the first ghoul is an old lady who lives on the upper floors of the Surrey estate in Woldingham, which she previously shared with ex-husband Peter Andre.

The pal went on: "Even Alex has told her he's seen the ghost. They're convinced there's an old lady upstairs. You can't tell them otherwise."

The second ghost, who they think is a man, haunts the sunbed Jordan had installed to keep her looking bronzed. The source added: "Katie has a sunbed room near the bottom of the house and she believes it's haunted by a ghost.

"She's seen shadows on a regular basis. A few weeks ago she thought the ghoul had tampered with the sunbed and she can't get that out of her head."

And as a result, the star of What Katie Did Next is desperate to leave the house, despite redecorating recently.

She even called in psychic Sally Morgan to investigate to goulish goings-on.

The friend said: "Katie's put up with them for as long as she could and now the time has come to move out.

"The house was once the site of a retirement home so there may have been a lot of deaths.

"In her head she's absolutely certain what's going on and she doesn't care what people have to say about it."

Jordan bought the house in June 2008. It is set in 1.5 acres of land and includes a swimming pool, triple garage, gym, and a marble staircase. But pals believe Jordan is really being haunted by her former flame Peter Andre and doesn't like to be reminded of his presence at the house.

One said: "Deep down she hates being reminded of Pete on a daily basis. Despite what she says, she misses him.

"It's sad really. She keeps talking about these ghosts, but it's as if she's haunted by the memory of her and Peter."

Sounds like you need an EXorcism, Katie.

Area 51 Veteran Talks: 'No Aliens'

nwsource by Erik Lacitis - After nearly five decades, guys like James Noce finally get to tell their stories about Area 51.

Yes, that Area 51.

The one that gets brought up when people talk about secret Air Force projects, crashed UFOs, alien bodies and, of course, conspiracies.

The secrets, some of them, have been declassified.

Noce, 72, and his fellow Area 51 veterans around the country now are free to talk about doing contract work for the CIA in the 1960s and '70s at the arid, isolated Southern Nevada government testing site.

Their stories shed some light on a site shrouded in mystery; classified projects still are going on there. It's not a big leap from warding off the curious 40 or 50 years ago, to warding off the curious who now make the drive to Area 51.

The veterans' stories provide a glimpse of real-life government covert operations, with their everyday routines and moments of excitement.

Noce didn't seek out publicity. But when contacted, he was glad to tell what it was like.

"I was sworn to secrecy for 47 years. I couldn't talk about it," he says.

In the 1960s, Area 51 was the test site for the A-12 and its successor, the SR-71 Blackbird, a secret spy plane that broke records at documented speeds that still have been unmatched. The CIA says it reached Mach 3.29 (about 2,200 mph) at 90,000 feet.

But after September 2007, when the CIA displayed an A-12 in front of its Langley, Va., headquarters as part of the agency's 60th birthday, much of the secrecy of those days at Area 51 fell away.

Advance warning to UFOlogists: Sorry, although Noce and other Area 51 vets say they saw plenty of secret stuff, none make claims about aliens.

Secrets included payroll

But on to the secrecy part.

Noce remembers always getting paid in cash, signing a phony name to the receipt, during his several years of working security at the site. It was, in CIA parlance, "a black project."

Noce says he has no paperwork showing that he worked at Area 51 for the CIA. He says that was common. Others who got checks say they came from various companies, including Pan American World Airways.

But Noce is vouched for by T.D. Barnes, of Henderson, Nev., founder and president of Roadrunners Internationale, membership 325. Barnes is the one who says he got checks from Pan Am, for whom he had never worked.

Roadrunners is a group of Area 51 vets including individuals affiliated with the Air Force, CIA, Lockheed, Honeywell and other contractors.

For the past 20 years, they'd meet every couple of years at reunions they kept clandestine. Their first public session was last October at a reunion in Las Vegas at the Atomic Testing Museum.

As age creeps up on them, Barnes, 72, an Area 51 radar specialist, wants the work the vets did to be remembered.

And Barnes himself has someone quite credible to vouch for him: David Robarge, chief historian for the CIA and author of "Archangel: CIA's Supersonic A-12 Reconnaissance Aircraft."

Robarge says about Barnes, "He's very knowledgeable. He never embellishes."

Barnes says that the way membership in the Roadrunners grew was by one guy who worked for the CIA telling about another buddy who worked at Area 51, and so on. Barnes says other Area 51 vets vouched for Noce.

Noce was a 1955 Vancouver High grad who went right into the Air Force and was trained in radar.

Leaving the service in 1959, he worked as a produce manager for the Safeway in Camas, 17 miles east of Vancouver.

Sometime in late 1961, Noce got a phone call at the grocery store. It was from a buddy of his from the Air Force days, who now worked for the CIA.

"He knew I had classified clearance from working at the radar sites," remembers Noce. "He asked me how would I like to live in Las Vegas."

Noce agreed to drive to Las Vegas and call "a guy" who worked for "the agency."

Comings and goings

And so Noce began doing security.

Most of the time, it was routine stuff.

On Monday mornings, a Lockheed Superconstellation would fly in from the "Skunk Works" in Burbank, Calif., bringing engineers and others who were working on the A-12. They'd stay there during the week and return home on weekends.

Skunk Works was the nickname for Lockheed's Advanced Development Projects, which had the A-12 contract.

The routine stuff included checking badges and making sure nobody had weapons or cameras. Security workers also made sure only those with proper clearance would witness a test flight.

And what a sight it was.

According to the CIA, its late former chief Richard Helms recalled visiting Area 51 and watching a midnight test flight of an A-12.

"The blast of flame that sent the black, insect-shaped projectile hurtling across the tarmac made me duck instinctively. It was as if the devil himself were blasting his way straight from hell," said Helms, according to former CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden.

Other times, the routine got very exciting.

Noce remembers when "Article 123," as one of the A-12s was called, crashed on May 24, 1963, after the plane stalled near Wendover, Utah. The pilot ejected and survived.

Noce says he was among those who flew to the crash site in a giant cargo plane loaded with several trucks. They loaded everything from the crash into the trucks.

He remembers that a local deputy had either witnessed the crash or had quickly arrived at the scene. There also was a family on a vacation car trip who had taken photos.

"We confiscated the camera, took the film out," says Noce. "We just said we worked for the government."

He says the deputy and the family were told not to talk to anybody about the crash, especially the press.

"We told them there would be dire consequences," Noce says. "You scared them."

As an added incentive, he says, the CIA arrived with a briefcase full of cash.

"I think it was like 25 grand apiece, for the sheriff and the family," says Noce.

Robarge says of cash payments to cover things up, "It was common practice."

Noce also remembers providing security in 1962 as a disassembled A-12 was trucked along back roads from Burbank to Area 51.

At one point, a Greyhound bus traveling in the opposite direction grazed one of the trailers. Wrote Robarge, "Project managers quickly authorized the payment of nearly $5,000 for damage to the bus so no insurance or legal inquiry would take place ... "

Stories about aliens

About the aliens.

Noce and Barnes say they never saw anything connected to UFOs.

Barnes believes the Air Force and the "Agency" didn't mind the stories about alien spacecraft. They helped cover up the secret planes that were being tested.

On one occasion, he remembers, when the first jets were being tested at what Muroc Army Air Field, later renamed Edwards Air Force Base, a test pilot put on a gorilla mask and flew upside down beside a private pilot.

"Well, when this guy went back, telling reporters, 'I saw a plane that didn't have a propeller and being flown by a monkey,' well, they laughed at this guy — and it got where the guys would see [test pilots] and they didn't dare report it because everybody'd laugh at them," says Barnes.

Noce says he quite liked working at Area 51.

He got paid $1,000 a month (about $7,200 in today's dollars). Weekdays he lived for free at the base in admittedly utilitarian housing — five men assigned to a one-story house, sharing a kitchen and bathroom.

Something that all Area 51 vets remember about living at the base, he says, was the great food.

"They had these cooks come up from Vegas. They were like regular chefs," Noce remembers. "Day or night, you could get a steak, whatever you wanted."

Lobster was flown in regularly from Maine. A jet, sent across the country to test its engines, would bring back the succulent payload.

On weekends, Noce and other contracted CIA guys would drive to Las Vegas.

They rented a pad, and in the patio plumbed in a bar with storage for two kegs of beer. It was a great time, barbecuing steaks and having parties, Noce says.

Noce has two pieces of proof from his Area 51 days: faded black-and-white snapshots taken surreptitiously.

One shows him in 1962 in front of his housing unit at Area 51. The other shows him in front of what he says is one of two F-105 Thunderchiefs whose Air Force pilots overflew Area 51 out of curiosity. The pilots were forced to land and were told that a no-fly zone meant just that.

Noce worked at Area 51 from early 1962 to late 1965. He returned to Vancouver and spent most of his working life as a longshoreman.

Noce remembers once in recent years talking with fellow retired longshoreman pals and telling them stories about Area 51. When they didn't believe him, he says, "Well, there was nothing I could do to prove anything."

Collecting memories

Mary Pelevsky, a University of Nevada visiting scholar, headed the school's Nevada Test Site Oral History Project from 2003 to 2008. Some 150 people were interviewed about their experiences during Cold War nuclear testing. Area 51 vets such as Barnes also were interviewed.

The historian says it was difficult to verify stories because of secrecy at the time, cover stories, memory lapses and — sometimes — misrepresentations.

But, she says, "I've heard this cloak-and-dagger stuff, and you say, 'No way.' Then you hear enough and begin to realize some of these stories are true."

In October, Noce and his son, Chris, of Colorado, drove to Las Vegas for that first public reunion of the Area 51 vets. He and his old buddies remembered the days.

"I was doing something for the country," Noce says about those three years in the 1960s. "They told me, 'If anything should ever come up, anyone asks, 'Did you work for the CIA?' Say, 'Never heard of them.' But [my buddies] know."

Strange Night in Saskatchewan

MUFON witness report - Kisbey, Saskatchewan, Canada - (unedited except for spelling corrections): I need to be taken seriously right now I am not crazy or a liar just because people did not see it does not mean it did not happen..

It was May 3 2008 I'm pretty sure. It was about 2:00 in the morning I was at my fiances moms farm near Kisbey in south east Saskatchewan. I was out late with a buddy sitting on the deck it was a nice warm clear night a good night to just sit back and look at the stars while we talked about our alien theories and what not..Anyways at around 2:00 we noticed a set of lights out in the field behind the house they were about 600 700 yards away and very low to the ground from what we could see. We stared at them for about 10 mins trying to figure out what they were they appeared to be moving in a circular motion and flashing in a pattern from left to right. We decided to get a better view so we walked up to a near by hill and crouched down but when we did all other lights around faded out of sight except for the rotating lights, At first we thought it was a semi on a dirt road but It just sat there and was far to long to be a semi at such a far distance. So we decided to walk back to the house as we got back onto the deck we saw a bright flash of light shoot off into the sky the light looked like it came from the object in the field, The light looked kinda like a flare but it was in the shape of what looked like Pac-Man it only lasted a few seconds and then faded and at about that time we started to hear twigs snapping in the trees all around the house and what sounded like light foot steps in the tall grass we went inside and grabbed a flashlight, when we got outside we walked close to the treeline looking for whatever was in the bushes and then out of nowhere our flashlight died but we kept going I didn't want to but I didn't want to seem like a baby in front of my buddy anyways every time we got close to the tree line we would hear a sound on the opposite side of us when we went towards the sound it would move to another part of the tree line almost like there was multiple creatures in the bush and they would make noise anytime we got close to one so that we couldn't see it. we did this for about a half hour by the time we got back to the deck it was almost 3:30am we were already scared. My buddy came up with a little test to see if we were alone he is very smart and clever in his mind but what he would do is yell out "If you can understand me snap a twig" and sure enough we heard a loud snap come from the trees I jumped and said a few bad words. Then we decided to try another test we went to one side of the yard and ran to the other side as we did we heard something crash through the bushes toward us as if it was eager to follow us but it stayed in the bushes We were so scared that in mid run we turned on a dime and ran towards the house in fear we went back on to the deck and sat for a min to catch our breath and analyze in our heads what we just heard after a few mins we decided to walk down the ramp behind the house that led around the house to the driveway as we got to the corner of the house we saw something standing in the driveway we could not see its face but it just stood there. We stared at it for about 30 seconds or so when we heard a low whine noise come from behind us we turned to look but found nothing when we looked back to see the creature standing in the driveway it was gone. (the creature was about 6 foot 3 or so it had long arms and a round head but had no clothing from what we could see.)anyways as I was saying I was scared I really wanted to go inside so we decided to go inside. We walked towards the house we had our backs toward the house staring at the driveway when out of nowhere we heard what sounded like a loud gust of wind that slammed a bush near the front door right up against the house and it was loud I did a full 360 jump when we looked at the bush it was pretty much pressed up against the house I was shaking so bad I had to sit down. When I was on the ground my buddy was in front of me talking to me as I looked up at him I saw a large black shadow on the roof looking down at us as I told him to look it darted away it was really fast, I got up and we ran to the back of the house to see what it was but there was nothing at about that time we noticed a large object in the shape of a triangle move across the sky above the house it had 3 lights on it one on each corner but there was no sound we could feel a slight vibration on the ground but yet no sound, It moved very slow about 10 miles an hour then all of a sudden a bright light illuminated the yard and it sped of heading south at an incredible speed then it was gone. A strong sulpher smell filled the air In total shock we went inside and down to my buddy room so that we could regroup and get our minds straight so we could figure out what just happened we did not sleep for the rest of the night we were to scared. About 3 nights later my buddy woke up gasping for air and it was loud enough to wake me and I was in another room I went to see if he was okay he said he could not remember his dream but it felt like something was pressing really hard on his chest and then once again the strong sulpher smell filled the room but only for about 2 mins. After that for about 3 weeks we had weird dreams constantly smelled sulpher and seen weird lights in the sky almost every night.. I had one dream that was exactly the same for 2 nights in a row I dreamed that I was abducted and taken to a strange place where I was stuck with a needle like object in the corner of my eye I could not speak, scream, or move then everything would go black and Id wake up. When I would wake up it would be morning but it felt like I only slept for a few mins.

To this day we still see strange lights in the sky others have witnessed it as well but I will never forget that night ever It was the most frightening thing I have ever gone through....

Nazis on the Moon?

ironsky - Photographs leaked to the Internet last week taken by the Cassiopeia probe on the so-called dark side of the Moon have stirred up considerable controversy among both astronomers and conspiracy theorists. The photos reveal a structure in the Schroedinger crater near the southern lunar polar region; official sources have failed to provide an explanation for it. Scientists are baffled by the discovery, and numerous UFO and conspiracy researchers have interpreted it to prove the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence.

The photographs in question are indistinct, due in part to the orbital distance of the probe and interference from ionised moon dust hanging in clouds above the crater floor, but a regular shape can be discerned in them, located slightly to the side of a circular crater approximately 1.5 kilometres in diameter, itself situated inside a larger, irregular depression. This is not the first time that regular objects have been visible on pictures taken in space. Indeed, parallels have already been drawn to the infamous face and pyramids found in the Cydonia region of Mars. Astronomers disagree, however, whether the Lunar Swastika is an actual structure or an optical illusion.

Hindus, Aliens or Nazis?

The lunar discovery is especially intriguing thanks to its extraordinary shape. The anomaly is clearly shaped like the swastika, a symbol used, among others, by the National Socialists in the 1930’s and 1940’s, leading to numerous conclusions that the structure is attributable to Nazis who fled to the Moon after the Second World War. At the same time, in India where the swastika is still in use as the symbol of prosperity, happiness and good luck, hundreds of thousands of Hindus have embarked on pilgrimages all over the country. The internationally famous UFO researcher Martin Krauss disagrees. “It is a sign from Alfa Centaurians who brought life to Earth four million years ago,” he said, “which they left on the Moon to remind us of their visit.”

NASA: Weather Balloon

In an official NASA announcement, NASA spokesperson Roslyn Villacorta stated that the alleged observations were due to a signal disturbance resulting from a weather balloon aligned between the satellite Cassiopeia and the groundside receiver. “Weather balloons are known to mess with probe signals,” she said in a press conference held at the Houston space center yesterday. “It is a freak coincidence that the erroneous signal formed a swastika shape, known all over the world as a strongly controversial symbol.”

Nazis on the Moon Already in 1945?

The Romanian scientist Radovan Tomovici, who has studied conspiracy theories for decades, disagrees. “For over 70 years, it has been common knowledge that the Nazis had a research programme overseen by Hans Kammler during the war, with the goal of conquest and control of orbital space,” he says. “It seems that Kammler, who mysteriously vanished shortly before the end of the war, and his team were successful. We’re in trouble now,” Tomovici adds.

PIHA Investigates the Lewis County, WA Historical Museum

Click for video

Paranormal Investigations of Historic America - Chehalis, Washington - The Lewis County Historical Museum is housed in the historic, 1912 turn of the century, Northern Pacific Railway Depot. The Northern Pacific Railroad (NP) reached the Chehalis River in 1872 from Kalama on the Columbia and the line reached Tacoma the following year. Today it is operated by the Lewis County Historical Society; it is dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of Lewis County, Washington.

The Chehalis Western purchased trackage from Milwaukee Road on a portion from Chehalis to Raymond line in 1936 and operated it as non-common carrier Chehalis Western Railroad. The line bought was 18 miles from Chehalis to Dryad. This line was not needed any more by the Milwaukee Road as it operated over a nearby Northern Pacific branch line. The Chehalis Western used only the first nine miles of this trackage from Chehalis to Ruth. A new line was built south from Ruth to Camp McDonald to where timber was ready to be cut. The logs would be taken from Camp McDonald to a log dump at South Bay near Olympia. In late 1975 the line was cutback to Curtis where a log reload was built. This truncated railroad was reorganized into the Curtis, Millburn and Eastern on December 1st, 1975. The logs were now taken from Curtis to Chehalis where they were handed over to the Milwaukee Road. When the Milwaukee Road abandoned all of its trackage west of Miles City, Montana the Curtis, Millburn & Eastern Railroad was absorbed into a new Chehalis Western. The former Milwaukee Road route to South Bay was taken over by the new Chehalis Western. The Chehalis-Centralia Railroad Association was formed in 1986 as a nonprofit corporation. The founders were a group of local citizens whose goal was to restore a 1916 logging locomotive that had been placed in a Chehalis park thirty years earlier. Early the following year, the restoration was begun and over the next two years, several railroad cars were acquired. With restoration completed, scheduled operations began in the summer of 1989 over a section of former Milwaukee Road track in the Chehalis-Centralia area. The Chehalis Western then shut down in 1992. The entire line was sold to the City of Tacoma in 1995 and renamed the Tacoma Eastern Railroad. It lasted just three years when in 1998 the railroad was taken over by Tacoma Rail.

The Chehalis Train Station Haunting

Stories have been told of a man that sits on the stairs in the back by the loft, a man that stands in the corner in the research library and a Native American woman. Also, a young boy whose name starts with an M and he hangs around upstairs. One person has died in the station. Here is a re-print of the original Chehalis Chronicle Newspaper article which was published on Wednesday March 19, 1912:

“Coroner Charles Sticklin received a letter this morning from Mrs. Martha Layman of Minneapolis, stating that she was positive that the body of the man killed at the local depot last December, is that of her son. She stated that she would leave for Centralia the day following that on which the letter was written, in which case she will arrive here tomorrow. Mrs. Layman stated in her letter that Downs, the man who was with the victim of the accident at the time he was killed, left home with her son. Downs stated that he did not know who the dead man was, but Mrs. Layman says that this is an untruth. The pictures exchanged by Coroner Sticklin and Mrs. Layman were practically identical, there is little doubt but what the body held here is that of Layman. Layman was a member of the Mason, Elks and Woodsmen and was formerly an officer in the Minnesota state prison.”

Layman was beaten and his legs were cut off. We can sometimes here someone dragging one foot through the hallways. Keep in mind, all of the artifacts in that museum belonged to pioneer families and some things are very precious and date back to the early 1800’s.

People who take stock of the supernatural wouldn’t have a hard time imagining that the Lewis County Historical Museum might be an ideal home for the undead.

Visitors and employees have reported the sounds of drawers opening, old-fashioned roller chairs rolling across the ground and roll-top desks closing. It has also been reported by visitors of seeing a slender conductor, in the old conductor’s office at the far end of the depot, walking back and forth writing notes on a clipboard.

Experiencer Describes Encounter / Lingering Ordeal

Witness recounts their encounter with an unknown craft or anomaly and the physical and psychological hardships since the event:

MUFON witness report - 6/16/1977 - Riverside, CA:
I and a friend went to a BBQ at my sisters house in Riverside, California. We left the BBQ around midnight. My friend was driving and I was in the passenger seat with my head against the window, dozing. We were driving down the 91 freeway in Riverside, in the slow lane, headed towards the 57 freeway to Costa Mesa, where we lived. As we were driving, I noticed the sign on the freeway said we were at Weir Canyon. As it was a Saturday night, there was a lot of traffic on the freeway. I closed my eyes and began to relax for the long ride home. As I began to doze, a distinct thought came to my mind. The thought said, "Turn your head and look out the window." I turned my head, and I saw a red "ball shaped" object that looked like it was perhaps 20 to 30 feet away from me. As we were in the slow lane, there was nothing beyond that but the shoulder of the freeway. No houses, no lights, just barren fields, completely dark. I thought the red ball odd, as I had traveled that freeway many times and that area is totally undeveloped. Nothing there. As we drove, I noticed the ball was keeping up with us. I didn't say anything at the moment to the driver. I just watched it. Finally I said, "Why don't you speed up a little." She did and the ball kept up. I strained to look at it, to see if it was a reflection of some kind, possibly from our own car. I said to her, Now slow down a little, so she slowed the car, and the ball was still right with us. She asked what I was doing, and I told her about the ball. She looked and saw it too. She pulled over on the shoulder and stopped. We got out to look at it, and it disappeared. I figured it was a reflection. So I took the wheel this time, and waited for the traffic to move ahead so I could get out in the lane. This time, I moved to the center lane, turned on the radio and began to cruise home. All of a sudden, I saw what looked to me like white car lights coming toward me in my lane. I called her attention to it, and she became frightened. It looked exactly like a potential head on collision. I looked to my right and left, to see if I could move in to another lane to get away from it, but the traffic was heavy on both sides and in back of me. I couldn't move in any direction. I laid on the horn, the lights were coming closer, I couldn't change lanes. This all happened in a split second, or so it seemed to me. I slammed on my brakes, knowing I would surely get hit from behind. I brought my knees up behind the wheel and covered my face with my hands, waiting to be hit from the back and head on. I waited, but nothing happened. When I uncovered my face, I saw that the lights in front of me in my lane, was not in my lane at all, but "above" my lane. I watched it moving slowly. I could see the front of it. It was arch shaped in the front, like a horseshoe shaped bumper, with a purplish hue around it and three huge lights under it. It moved slowly over my car, and I turned to watch through the back window and saw it move slowly away. It was enormous. I opened the door and got out. There was no sound from the craft, no sounds of any kind. At that moment, I noticed there was no traffic on the freeway. It was completely empty. There was no one. I took the keys to start the car, and realized I had not shut it off when I slammed it in to park, yet it was off. I started the car and sped off, scared to death, running red lights all the way home. When I got home, I looked at the clock. It was 4:30 in the morning. I couldn't understand why it was so late. I was tired and confused. I went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I didn't feel well. I told a neighbor about what I saw. He said "Lets go back tonight, and see if we can see something." Fear shot through me. I didn't want to go, but they razed me until I went. As we traveled down the same freeway, we came up to Weir Canyon again. I noticed there was aprox 50 cars pulled over on the shoulder, with people standing outside their cars, looking up. We did the same thing. There must have been a thousand of those red balls darting back and forth, flying around, like playing tag with each other. Then suddenly an enormous white light, just popped on in the middle of the sky. The crowd gasp, and then the light went off again. I jumped in to the car and drove down the freeway to the next underpass and got off, going to the gas station at the bottom. I asked the gas attendant there if there was an airport near. He said there was. IT was a light plane airport not far from there. I decided to go there to check it out, but before I could go, a huge white helicopter, with blacked out windows, flew over the overpass and hovered over my car. It looked like military, but I couldn't be sure. The blades were kicking up dust so bad, I couldn't hardly keep my eyes open, but I did see the pilot clearly. It hovered over my car for several minutes, then it flew off in the direction I had just come from. I knew this was no mistake, no coincidence. This all had something to do with what I had seen the night before. I went to the airport and watched the planes coming in and out for over an hour. No way was there anything there that even remotely resembled what I saw on either night. After that, I went home, and went to work the next morning. I wasn't feeling well, so I decided to make a doctors appointment. I went the following day. They did some test and bloodwork. When I left the doctor, I couldn't find my car in the parking lot. It took me over an hour to find it. Once I got in, I had forgotten how to start the car. When I finally got it started I got lost on the way to work. When I finally got there to pick up my friend, my shift was over and we went home. She said she felt sick too. She cried for three days, not knowing why. I asked her what was wrong, she said she didn't know. She just cried, she suffered severe depression which was unusual for her. I went to work and found I couldn't remember how to operate my machine. I had trouble walking, as my gate was completely off. To make a long story short, over aprox a months time, I slowly and surely deteriorated, little by little. I lost my job, my car, and my home, as I got sicker and sicker, becoming incapable of supporting myself. I developed a stutter that I had never had before in my life. My head and neck tilted to the right and was unable to straighten it. My doctor said for some reason, my autonomic nervous system was shot. I did not tell him what happened that night, as I believed he would think I was crazy. I was sick like that, and on medications for three years. It took three years for me to re-learn how to drive again. It has been years now, and although I am able to work, It has been a hard climb up. I still have lingering disabilities from this. All these years, I have been looking for anyone who witnessed what I saw those two nights. I have been looking for answers, and have found nothing. I watched a documentary the other night and learned of your organization, which is why I'm writing you now. I have no photos of it. I have blogged for years to try to find anyone at all who saw what I saw. I have had no luck. Today, I still have memory problems in that I still have no sense of direction, and can get lost in my own neighborhood. My walking gate never got better, and I still stutter from time to time. I don't know what happened to me, but something sure did.

NOTE: I truly hope the witness finds answers to their experience. I read and hear encounter descriptions regularly and the post-event characteristics expressed the most by victims is the frustration of not understanding what happened to them and the anger / despair that results. A majority of medical professionals still regard experiencer accounts as total fiction which leaves these people in limbo...unable to find direction needed to heal from the ordeal...Lon

WTF! Shop Displays 'Nazi Soap' Made From Death Camp Victims

cbc - The owner of a Montreal collectibles shop is defending his decision to sell a bar of soap he advertises as being made of the fat of Holocaust victims.

Jewish groups in Montreal are denouncing the shop in the city's Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood where the beige bar of soap is displayed.

The soap is inscribed with a swastika and displayed in a glass case with a card that says "Poland 1940."

On Friday, Abraham Botines, a Spanish-born Jew who has operated the quirky boutique since 1967, admitted he has no idea whether the soap is really made of human remains.

"I'm 73 and I was collecting things from the Holocaust and from World War II because I belong to that period," Botines told The Canadian Press in an interview Friday in the cluttered shop.

"In my lifetime I got a lot of curiosity items — that is, things that are hard to find ... and my things, my children, they don't have any interest."

But Botines is adamant he's selling a collectible item and not hateful ideology.

After reporters began descending on the store Friday morning, the controversial bar of soap was put aside.

Botines said it can now be seen only by serious collectors.

"It's my soap and I'm free to do anything I want with it," he said.

Most Holocaust experts say the stories that have circulated over the years about Nazis mass-producing soap from the remains of Jews and others who died in concentration camps are largely untrue although there is evidence the Nazis experimented with soap-making using human remains.

Nonetheless, Jewish groups were angered by the discovery of the soap, which was first reported by CBC News.

Fake or real, the soap is outrageous, and "this individual, and others like him, are not preserving history in any way," said Alice Herscovitch, director of Montreal's Holocaust Centre. "The sale of objects which glorify Nazism and hatred, to me, do nothing. They certainly don't help us remember."

The idea is also disgusting, she said.

"These are items that should not be out there in a promotional, sales kind of way."

The sale of items with swastikas is not illegal under Canadian law, but selling soap made with human remains is, said Anita Bromberg, B'nai Brith Canada's chief legal counsel.

Making such a claim about a bar of soap, if untrue, is also illegal because it is fraud, she added.

"It's just offensive to the core," said Bromberg, who is based in Toronto. "I can't imagine that someone would even pretend to say they're collecting it for historical interest."

Botines also sells a braid of hair labelled as originating from a Nazi "extermination camp."

He said he wouldn't sell any of the items to a neo-Nazi.

On Friday, Montreal police said they would verify the facts and speak with local Jewish groups before deciding whether to open an investigation.

"It's very important to validate the information first," said Montreal police Cmdr. Paul Chablo. "It’s one thing to say this is being sold, [but] is it actually true? … If there is any truth to this, then, of course, we'll want to open an investigation."

An investigation could include ordering a lab analysis of the soap, Chablo said.

The Strange History of the Culbertson Mansion and Carriage House

news-tribune - Joellen Bye admits she was not the best student growing up. But, after accepting a job at the Culbertson Mansion in 1977, she read everything she could get her hands on about New Albany’s most famous landmark and those who occupied it.

“It sparked my interest,” she said of spending her days in the mansion. “It turned on my switch. I’ve learned more here than I could ever learn in school.”

The history lessons can be found on every floor of the Culbertson Mansion, which was built in 1867 by William S. Culbertson for $120,000.

The house has seen many owners and changes since Culbertson and his family roamed the hallways. The house sold at auction in 1899 for $7,100. During the course of the past century, it belonged to the American Legion, was almost torn down in favor of a gas station and eventually became a state historic site in 1976.

Bye has been working at the mansion for 33 years and knows it as if it was one of her children. She became site manager of the facility in 1995.

The house will open April 1 for public tours. Recently Bye spoke about the mansion, its history and the ongoing restoration.

QUESTION: What do you love about the Culbertson Mansion?

JOELLEN BYE: It’s hard to explain. I’ve seen it change over the years and have been part of that. Before the restoration, everything was really plain. There is something about this place. It has its own personality. It’s more than a house. It gets to you.

Q: Do people take this place for granted?

BYE: I hear it from people who visit the house. I would say 90 percent of them say they have lived here all of their life and this is the first time they have toured the home. They don’t think about it.

Q: What do you love about your job?

BYE: There is so much ... but I would say the ongoing restoration project. Some things we kind of stumbled into. We had no idea the painted design was under all of that wallpaper. Just to be part of it and see it happen, that’s been exciting.

Q: What frustrates you about the job?

BYE: I guess lack of funds. If it wasn’t for the friends’ group, none of the interior restoration would be done. All the money they raise with the haunted house and other projects goes right back into the house. The friends’ group is so important.

Q: What is left to renovate in the mansion?

BYE: The first floor is completely finished. We are currently on the second floor and it is partially complete. We haven’t started the third floor yet. I think the worst part is behind us. The state recently paid for a new copper roof, repainted the exterior and put in new walkways. In 2000, they put in a new climate control system.

Q: What is it that people might not know about the mansion?

BYE: If they came as third-graders, the ceiling was painted white, and the restoration project had not got going. The house has changed through the years.

Q: OK, is the house haunted?

BYE: That has always been a hot topic. I have seen and heard things that I cannot explain. We are not ghost hunters or ghost crazy people. We have ghost hunters who approach us about setting up cameras at night and doing their thing, but we always have to tell them no for insurance and liability reasons.

Q: So, you have seen things you can’t explain?

BYE: Yes. There are the typical things ... maybe you hear a door shut or it may sound like someone is walking upstairs when there is no one up there. My office is in the basement and at night, if I am here alone, I can hear things. We know something is here, but we have never confirmed it.

Q: What about the future of the home?

BYE: I hope we can start being open year-round. Last year we were scheduled to, but had funding cut at the last minute. We hope all third-graders continue to come to tour the mansion [as part of studying Indiana history]. And we will continue to focus on the ongoing restoration.

THE CULBERTSON MANSION & CARRIAGE HOUSE

Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site is located in New Albany, Indiana by the Ohio River. It was the home of William Culbertson, who was once the richest man in Indiana. Built in 1867 at a cost of $120,000, this French Second Empire-style mansion has 25-rooms within 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2), and was completed in November 1869. It was designed by James T. Banes, a local architect. Features within the three-story edifice include hand-painted ceilings and walls, frescoed ceilings, carved rosewood cantilevered staircase, marble fireplaces, wallpaper of fabric-quality, and crystal chandeliers. The tin roof was imported from Scotland. The displays within the mansion feature the Culbertson family and the restoration of the building. The rooms on the tour are the formal parlors, dining rooms, bedrooms, kitchen, and laundry room.

In its heyday, a railroad ran behind the house (Culbertson had sold land to the railroad), and a streetcar ran from his house towards downtown New Albany.

The Culbertson Mansion’s Carriage House originally served a dual purpose in the 1800’s: to house the Culbertson’s horse and buggy below and servants in the quarters above. One autumn night in 1888 lightning struck the Carriage House, causing a fire that torched most of the interior and killed all living things inside.

The new servants refused to live in the Carriage House, claiming the place was haunted by the souls of those who perished in the fire. The tragic building remained an empty shell until the early 1930’s when it was reconstructed and transformed into a rental property by the McDonalds. The Webb family moved into the house in the spring of 1933. Dr. Harold Webb, a well established doctor and dentist from out of state wanted to settle down in a smaller town and start his own in-house practice, using the Carriage House as his home and office.

Business was great and life had returned to the once unfortunate building. Little did they know something dark and sinister lurked below. The Webb children started to tell stories of a dark man entering their rooms at night through the walls.

Noises were heard underneath the house. Sounds of clanging chains, screams and horrible smells would come up through the floor. Dr. Webb and his wife dismissed the children’s stories at first, but they could not dispute the sounds and smells coming from the rooms downstairs.

Although Dr. Webb investigated the lower level repeatedly, he claimed to find no evidence of anything unusual, assuring the family everything was as it should be. But the children’s stories of a nightly visitor continued, as did the horrible sounds and odors. During this time the strange goings-on began to take their toll on the good doctor’s mental state. Webb became increasingly agitated and angry, losing most of his patients because of the unpleasant experiences they had in the office. Several of Dr. Webb’s patients went missing and an investigation of the Webb office was initiated by the local police.

On September 29th, 1934, one of Dr. Webb’s few remaining patients arrived for an appointment but found the doors locked and the place abandoned. After a few days of no activity a police warrant was issued to investigate. What the police found was horrendous; the Webb family had been slaughtered.

Each room of the house was littered with the remains of victims who suffered unspeakable deaths; a daughter was found repeatedly stabbed, his son was skinned, and his wife brutally beaten. Perhaps, the most shocking of all was what lied beneath the living quarters. A full search of the house revealed an even more macabre and mysterious scene.

The basement level of the house held secret passages and hidden rooms. Webb used these areas for his own evil practices, torturing patients and using them for his twisted experiments. The bones and remains of the patients were everywhere, some so disfigured the police began to question if they were even human.

After the investigation the house was boarded up and remained vacant for nearly three decades.

During the days of the American Legion ownership from 1946 to 1964, the Carriage house was restored then reopened for parties and musical events. The staff and attendees reported several unusual occurrences: electrical problems, missing items, strange sounds after hours and mysterious figures moving from room to room.

Even current staff and volunteers of the Mansion have reported strange happenings in the Carriage House over the years. A few have even refused to work in the building.

In 1987 the Friends of the Culbertson Mansion started using the Carriage House for an annual haunted attraction. Every year thousands of visitors pass through those ill-fated doors. Some never make it to the end.

Calling the Dead at the Borden House

southcoasttoday - It's midnight, and Christopher Moon is hunched over his laptop computer in the cold, dark basement of the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast.

He says he is listening to the voices of the dead.

Initially, there are no surprises. Moon first heard the voices earlier that night, two floors up, in the bedroom where Abigail Durfee Gray Borden was hacked to death with a hatchet in August of 1892. Now, he is playing back the audio of that session so he and a room of paranormal investigators can hone in on not only what was said, but who said it.

The words are choppy and abrasive to the ear as they are blasted from a set of speakers, but everyone is in rapt attention. The group hears static, white noise and occasional fragments from local radio stations, all picked up by a wooden, cigar box-like machine adorned with knobs and packed with wires — a device Moon calls the Telephone to the Dead.

But every few seconds, between and over all the noise, throaty voices, almost urgent in their clarity and speed, spout specific answers to direct questions. The voices are distinct, consistent and almost jolting in the way they stand out from the clatter.

A few minutes into the playback, Moon picks up on something no one heard during the real-time recording: a woman's voice, seemingly soaked in fear and desperation, making a plea.

Moon widens his eyes and scratches his red beard, realizing what he has captured. Then he rewinds the tape a few seconds back and plays the voice again. A couple of people gasp and nod their heads; one woman covers her mouth. By the time Moon plays the clip for the fifth time, the message is clear to all in the room.

"Help me," the voice implores. "Help me."

'DON'T TURN YOUR BACK'

Moon — editor of "Haunted Times," a widely read paranormal magazine — and his Colorado-based team have amassed a rich collection of photos, videos and audio recordings during dozens of investigations that they say prove the historic Borden home is filled with spirits.

Ranked by the Travel Channel as the world's creepiest destination, the Borden home continues to attract ghost seekers and history buffs more than a century after the gruesome ax-murders of Andrew Borden, a wealthy city businessman, and his wife, Abigail. Lizzie Borden, Andrew's daughter and Abigail's step-daughter, was brought to trial for the killings. She was promptly acquitted and the case was never solved.

Out of all the supposedly haunted locations Moon says he has investigated in recent years, 92 Second St. ranks "easily in the top three." The 36-year-old former heavy metal musician uses technology to prove, as he puts it, the existence of ghosts, including electromagnetic field detectors, white noise machines, digital cameras and voice recorders.

Like many people who work or have stayed overnight at the house, Moon also claims he has experienced other unexplainable things without the aid of electronic equipment.

His first night as a guest, Moon was resting in a second-floor bedroom when he says he heard a voice warn, "Don't turn your back." Several hours later, he was jarred awake by a choking feeling, as if someone was trying to strangle him. In the morning, he discovered what appeared to be a rope burn around his neck. Moon attributes the attack unequivocally to Andrew Borden. And although he still investigates regularly at the house, he goes elsewhere when it's time to sleep.

"I believe he died not only angry, bitter and evil, but so brutally, that when he was released from his body, he attracted more negativity," Moon says of Andrew Borden, who sustained 11 blows to the head.

Andrew Borden, the miserly, affluent patriarch of the Borden family, is the dominant spirit in the house, Moon says. His energy turns up in photos of the sitting room sofa, an exact replica of the one on which his body was found. And his deep, stern voice, tinged with a slight Fall River accent, frequently interrupts Telephone to the Dead sessions, often with swears and warnings to "get out."

Moon says his evidence suggests that Andrew Borden was not only tightfisted, but cold and abusive to his daughters.

"Andrew Borden was one of the most sick, disgusting men who ever lived," Moon tells a group gathered in the home's basement for Ghost Hunter's University, a two-day crash course into the world of paranormal investigations.

Moon and his crew — including his parents, Dennis and Paulette Huff — return to the Borden home several times a year. The seasoned investigators claim the strength of Andrew Borden's spirit is unmatched by any other they know. They are drawn to the home.

"It's rare that a spirit has that much energy and ability," Moon tells The Fall River Spirit. "Aside from the obvious question, which is why, the bigger question is how does Andrew have the power when 99 percent of the spirits we encounter don't?"

CRACKING THE CASE

Lizzie Borden didn't do it. At least, she wasn't directly responsible for the deaths of her father and step-mother, according to the "Haunted Times" group. Moon claims he learned that with help from his telephone to the spirit world, which souls on the "other side" speak through by manipulating radio waves. Thomas Edison started work on such a device before his death, Moon says.

Investigations at the house have led Moon's team to conclude that William Borden, believed by some to be Andrew Borden's illegitimate son, committed the crime. Fall River native Lewis Peterson, who knew Lizzie Borden in his childhood, professed the spinster's innocence to Hathaway Publishing in 1997, suggesting that William Borden was not only related to Andrew Borden, but guilty of his murder. The story was later reprinted in "The Hatchet: Journal of Lizzie Borden Studies."

"One of the advantages of our technology is that we can hear out of their own mouths what took place," Moon says. "Some of that information is cryptic in ways, but we have found out that Lizzie never swung the ax."

Lizzie Borden wasn't entirely innocent, Moon says. She planned the killings, securing her freedom by having someone else do the dirty work. She was determined to seek an end to the "hateful things that had happened to her."

Other conclusions the "Haunted Times" crew has drawn raise more questions than answers. Evidence collected from the spirits suggests that Andrew Borden might have been killed outside the home and that his body was later moved to the sofa, says Dina Everling, director of marketing for "Haunted Times."

Andrew Borden still forcefully stands watch over his home, but Moon claims to have found evidence of other spirits in the dwelling, including Abby Borden, Bridget Sullivan — the Bordens' maid — and a few children who are believed to have died in a well down the street.

Lizzie Borden has "moved on," Moon says.

"She comes back from time to time, though."

SKEPTICS WELCOME

While on a break from the most recent investigation at the Borden house, someone shows Lee-Ann Wilber a photo he took in the room where Abby Borden was slain. The photo is filled with orbs — little white circles that some believe are the energy of spirits.

"OK, I know that's not dust because I just Dysoned in there," says Wilber, owner of the bed and breakfast.

Sometimes, orbs simply are dust or moisture and nothing more. Moon says he encourages people to think sensibly when they delve into the paranormal and rule out all possible explanations before assuming something is of another world.

"The only thing worse than a hard-headed skeptic is the true believer," he tells the Ghost Hunter's University class crowded in the basement one recent March evening. "Be rational."

Moon knows that paranormal investigations can be hard for some people to grasp. Skeptics regularly attend his seminars and investigations, and he's fine with that, so long as they are open-minded.

Wilber, who believes there has been legitimate spirit activity at the house, enjoys hosting the "Haunted Times" crew every few months. "I wouldn't invite them back if I didn't," she says as Max, her black cat, darts under the dining room table.

As for the team's conclusions about what really happened 118 years ago?

"Everyone who comes in seems to find something different," Wilber says, acknowledging with a smile that she has heard some "out there" theories. "I always stick with the facts. If people do ask for experiences, I can only offer my personal ones."

NATIONAL ATTENTION

Lizzie Dickson wasn't named after Lizzie Borden, but she is reminded of Fall River's most infamous woman quite often.

"There's a guy at work who sings the song to me every week," Dickson says with a groan.

By song, Dickson means the well-known rhyme that pins Lizzie Borden down as the killer.

After arriving at the Borden home for the first time on a Friday afternoon, Dickson and her boyfriend, Joe Samalis, both of Shrewsbury, wait in the sitting room, not knowing what to expect from Ghost Hunter's University, which they have heard so much about. Their spur-of-the-moment trip has landed them in the John Morse bedroom, where Abby Borden was killed. Visitors usually book rooms well in advance, but there happened to be an unexpected vacancy when the couple called earlier in the week.

"It was something we always wanted to do," Samalis says.

Dickson's thoughts turn to spending the night in a purportedly haunted bedroom and she says she is nervous.

"She's going to stick to me like white on rice," Samalis says of his girlfriend.

"No, like super glue," Dickson clarifies. She breathes in, smiles and shakes her head, motioning to Samalis. "I hope nobody tries to poke me tonight — except him."

Later that night, Dickson volunteers to stand in the spot where Abby Borden was killed. Moon stands in front of her, asking her to breathe deep, close her eyes and tell him how she feels.

"Anxious," Dickson says, before becoming light-headed and stumbling backward. Huff, Moon's mother and a psychic, comforts Dickson and tells her to "let go" of the energy.

Samalis, an electrical engineer, says he is skeptical, but after receiving what he calls a sign from his late father several years ago, he believes in something more. He contends that the afterlife probably isn't as spooky or outrageous as Hollywood portrays it, though.

Other investigation attendees come from farther afield. Two men and two women from Saratoga, N.Y., on a return trip, say they have no doubts that the house is haunted. And Kris Bronson of Chicago brought along a pink suitcase full of her own investigative equipment, having experienced activity in the house before.

"The whole place makes me feel kind of nervous," she says.

The Borden home certainly isn't the only place to find spirits, says Moon, who spends most of the year on the road, conducting similar investigations at homes and historic sites.

"Everyone has a ghost story," Moon says. "There's paranormal activity throughout the country and the world. As long as people have been alive, there have been ghosts."
