Photo: 'Bird-Like' UFO Sighted Near Kingwood, WV

MUFON witness report: "I was outside having a smoke and noticed something shiny out of the corner of my eye. When I looked I immediately realized that it was not an airplane, the light from the sun setting was reflecting so brightly it appeared golden in color. I ran in the house and grabbed the camera, I managed to get off one shot. Fortunately it turned out relatively good considering the object was several thousand feet away and traveling about twice the speed of a passenger plane. The object was about twice the size of a passenger airplane also, and it made absolutely no noise as it flew almost right over my house. The object looked very similar to a bird but did not appear to moving mechanically. It was traveling in an almost straight line away from the Air Force base in Kingwood WV."

NOTE: first off, there is no Air Force installation in West Virginia. The witness may be referring to Camp Dawson in Kingwood, WV. Anyway, this is an interesting photo. Any thoughts?...Lon

I live near Kingwood (in Morgantown - where there is an airport), and we see both military and commercial planes all the time. The 911th Air Force Reserves' Detachment unit flies out of the Morgantown airport, so it wouldn't surprise me if you photog was just mistaken. Not that he didn't see it, but that it wasn't anything hostile or alien. Also, Morgantown is home to WVU and has a huge Engineering department. Students live and commute from Kingwood. Who's to say this wasn't a class assignment?

I admit, looks like a climbing military plane which would explain the angle and the speed. If they're high enough, they don't really have any sound to them. When the sun is setting I can see birds fly in the sky that look pure white. They aren't actually but it's an effect of the light on them at that time of day. I would seriously doubt any alien craft (if they exist) would come in the form of our primitive airplanes.

I saw many an SR-71 take off... more years ago then I care to think about 40 years ago!

40 years ago:
They taxi,
They rise a few feet off the ground just like a Harrier,
They tip the nose sky ward,
They disappear,
