NOTE: this video was supposedly released by the Chilean government in the summer of 2008 and was presented and commented on a television program with former Iberian Airlines Flight Commander Juan Ignacio Lorenzo Torres. Torres and his flight crew are known for reporting a famous UFO sighting November 4, 1968. Below is a recent interview of his experience in 1968 (both Spanish and English posted)...Lon:

Why now strive to remember those lights?

"I think many people will be pleased to know that my crew and I saw something that nobody has yet managed to explain.

-¿Cuándo? - When?

-Era el 4 de noviembre de 1968 a las 18 horas y 23 minutos. "It was on 4 November 1968 to 18 hours and 23 minutes.

-¿Dónde? - Where?

-En la vertical de Sagunto, Valencia. "In the vertical de Sagunto, Valencia. I was the commander of a Caravelle 6-R, a very modern device then covering the IB Iberia flight 249 London-Alicante. There was no impact until we go to Barcelona. About 100 miles, the control of Barcelona we ordered off the 310 -31,000-foot level and descend into level 280.

-¿Por qué? - Why?

-Venía un British Caledonia en sentido opuesto. "He was a British Caledonian in the opposite direction. So we were ordered down to avoid the possibility of collision.

-¿Y...? - Y. ..?

"Well, I ordered dinner and had the trays and in the cabin, but at this level were in the beard of clouds that produce light turbulence, although uncomfortable. Era desagradable cenar así. It was unpleasant and dinner. I asked the second driver to alert the outside monitoring to see if traffic was opposed and could thus return to our quiet dining level.

-¿Lo vio? - Did you see?

-Creíamos que sí. "We thought so. He said: "I've got the light" but what we saw then was a flash and a light coming at us at breakneck speed.

-¿Susto? - Fright?

-Y miedo. "And fear. Aquello venía a rumbo de colisión. That came a collision course.

-¿Qué hicieron? - What did they do?

"We pull the trays and stood agape watching that blinding light that was not usual. We call the hostess to also look at that. Ninguno de nosotros sabíamos qué podía ser. None of us knew what it was.

-¿Qué hizo la luz? - What did the light?

He stood 10 meters from the nose of my plane. Up and down and moving left and right, but always returned there, 10 meters from the nose of my plane.

-¿No llamó al control de Barcelona? - Do not call the control of Barcelona?

-Bueno, no era tan fácil. "Well, was not so easy. ¿Qué podía decir? What could I say? We all sense of the ridiculous. I tried to speak to the subject in English and Spanish. Then I called the control, the VOR in Barcelona and asked if there was traffic in the area. I was told that radar coverage reached only 60 miles.

-¿Y qué hizo usted entonces? - What did you do?

"I called the emergency channel 121.5 for all aircraft that may be close to communicate with us.

-¿Y después? - What then?

-Todos mirábamos las luces. "Everyone looked at the lights. There was one large and two tiny light at the sides. I tried to establish a primary code of communication with my landing lights. I said in Spanish: "Turns on and off twice is not, on and off again is yes."

-¿Y se entendieron ustedes? - What you got on?

-Yo creo que sí. "I think so. I made several questions, including: "Are they friends or enemies?".

-¿Qué respondieron? - How do you respond?

-Había lógica en sus movimientos. There was logic to their movements.

-¿Cuánto tiempo duró el avistamiento? - How long did the sighting?

-Algo más de diez minutos. "A little over ten minutes.

-Eso es mucho tiempo. "That's a long time.

-Sí. "Yes.

-¿Qué hizo usted al aterrizar? - What did you do on landing?

"That night we all slept badly, as my crew told me the next day. All made a pact of silence, but the control Barcelona boss, Lt. Col. Aleu, I called on landing at El Prat and told me that radar coverage of the Spanish had recorded these UFOs. I ordered a copy of those records and give me one.

-¿Tiene esa copia? - Do you have that copy?

"No, because, four months later, another Caravelle piloted by Commander Ordovás made another sighting in the same area ... Traveling on the same flight engineer, Jose Cuenca! The news went beyond that because the flight attendant had a boyfriend journalist.

-Y se difundió el rumor. "And the rumor spread.

"Yes. I started calling journalists and four months in my house were presented Lt. Col. Ugarte and legal and seized me that copy.

-Vaya. "Wow.

"After instructing the cause of the sighting, Lt. Col. Ugarte concluded that what we had seen my co-pilot, engineer, flight attendant and I was ... Venus. Venus.

-¿Venus? - Venus?

-Sí, Venus. "Yes, Venus. Venus had had stuck to the nose of my plane! ¡Y yo sin enterarme! And me without knowing!

-¿Por qué dijeron eso? - Why did they say that?

"I suppose in military culture is very embarrassing not find an explanation for something: Venus was a solution as any.

-¿Y usted qué cree? - What do you think?

"I think it might be - why not? - A ship or whatever other extraterrestrial beings. When the military intelligence declassified documents needed watching them lay down on the radar records. Lt. Col. Aleu told me that the radar had registered three UFOs.

-¿Cree usted en ellos? - Do you believe in them?

"I think that day we saw something of another culture land.

-¿Tiene algún otro dato? - Do you have any information?

-Daría lo mismo. "Might as well. The powers that be deny what they see before accepting that they can not explain or control it. Y, desde luego, ¡no era Venus! And, of course, was not Venus!
